Resetting Education,
For Better Learning Outcomes
Grand Arena, Mensvic Grand Hotel
The National Schools Awards (NSA) is a national initiative established to recognise, celebrate and promote excellence across Ghana's pre-tertiary education sector. The Awards seek to strengthen a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement by honouring schools that demonstrate outstanding performance, innovation and measurable progress in areas including school leadership and management, teaching and learning, inclusivity, stakeholder engagement and overall school improvement.
Anchored on NaSIA's Inspection Evaluation Framework (IEF) and national education standards, the NSA selection process is designed to be transparent, objective and evidence-based. The Awards recognise not only high-performing schools but also institutions that have demonstrated significant improvement despite resource constraints, highlighting the belief that every school has the potential to improve.
Aligned with Ghana's Education Strategic Plan (ESP 2018-2030), Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on quality education, and global best practices in education quality assurance, the NSA aims to inspire schools, promote knowledge sharing, encourage innovation, and contribute to building a high-performing and equitable education system.
The NSA 2026 - GALOP Edition marks the maiden edition of the awards. This special edition recognises schools under the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) that have demonstrated commitment, resilience and measurable improvement throughout the implementation period.
Over the past five years, the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) has conducted comprehensive inspections of GALOP-supported schools across all sixteen regions using the NaSIA Inspection Evaluation Framework (IEF) and established quality standards to objectively assess school performance.
Following a rigorous assessment and evidence-based review process, the top 20 schools showing exceptional progress and improvement have been selected for consideration for the GALOP Edition of the awards.
