About the Awards

Celebrating Excellence Across Pre-Tertiary Schools

The National Schools Awards (NSA), a national initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating excellence across pre-tertiary schools in Ghana. The initiative seeks to promote quality, accountability, and continuous improvement by honoring schools that demonstrate improved performance in leadership and management, teaching and learning innovation, inclusivity, community engagement, and many more.

Using NaSIA's Inspection Evaluation Framework (IEF) and national education standards, the selection process is fair, transparent, and evidence-based. The NSA recognizes both high-performing schools and schools making significant progress, including less-resourced institutions that demonstrate meaningful improvement.

Aligned with Ghana's Education Strategic Plan (ESP 2018–2030), the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, and global best practices, the initiative aims to inspire collaboration, encourage excellence, and strengthen quality education across the country.

2026 – GALOP Edition

The GALOP Edition of the NSA marks the maiden edition of the schools' awards initiative. This special edition focuses exclusively on schools participating in the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) and seeks to recognize institutions that have demonstrated remarkable progress and improvement over the implementation period.

Over the past five years, NaSIA has inspected more than 4,000 GALOP schools across the country using established quality assurance and performance indicators. Following a rigorous assessment and evidence-based review process, the top 20 schools showing exceptional progress and improvement have been selected for consideration for the GALOP Edition of the awards.

The maiden edition aims not only to celebrate achievements but also to highlight successful practices, encourage continuous improvement, and inspire schools across the education sector to strive for excellence.
